Anhui province unveiled an embodied intelligence innovation center on Oct. 10 at a conference held at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in Hefei.
The conference, themed “AI Empowers Jianghuai, Embodied Future,” focused on technological innovation, commercialization, talent cultivation and industrial applications in embodied intelligence. It brought together academicians, university research teams, executives from leading companies, investors and alumni from home and abroad.
Embodied intelligence is a key direction in the deep integration of artificial intelligence and robotics, enabling intelligent systems to move from the information space into the physical world and to perceive, decide and act in real environments.
The Anhui Embodied Intelligence Innovation Center is an open ecosystem platform for embodied intelligence and robotics in Anhui. It is supported by the Anhui Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, led by USTC’s Humanoid Robot Research Institute, and jointly built with top research institutions and leading companies from inside and outside the province.
The center is an industry-oriented platform with ecosystem leadership that is not an independent legal entity and is managed by USTC. Drawing on talent and research achievements from USTC’s Humanoid Robot Research Institute, 300 companies from USTC’s Global Embodied Intelligence Industry Alumni Association and industrial resources of co-builders, it will support Anhui’s embodied intelligence and robotics industries under the guidance of the provincial industry and information technology department.
Its functions include building innovation platforms, tackling key generic technologies, promoting technology transfer and scenario demonstrations, and supporting talent training and ecosystem cultivation.
