Sharpa Launches Three Flagship Products at IROS 2026, Pushing the Boundaries of Dexterous Manipulation

#Sharpa

Sharpa unveiled three major proprietary new products at the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS): D01, the first integrated tactile-sensing robot built for dexterous manipulation; W02, a next-generation fully tactile, ultra-compact, lightweight dexterous hand; and AE01, a high-fidelity haptic exoskeleton data glove.

Designed respectively for whole-body task execution, fine manipulation, and high-quality data capture, the three products address three critical aspects of robotics: how robots move, how they make contact with and manipulate objects, and how natural human motion can enable teleoperation and data collection. Together, Sharpa provide a complete hardware stack for complex, contact-rich manipulation in real-world environments.

D01: the first integrated tactile-sensing robot built for dexterous manipulation.

As Sharpa’s first integrated tactile-sensing dexterous manipulation robot, D01 was designed around dexterity, agility, and precision. It is built for manipulation tasks that demand high-speed motion, high-precision control, and complex physical contact at the same time.

In contact-rich manipulation, robots are often forced to trade off speed, strength, and precision: move quickly, and fine control becomes more difficult; increase force, and sensitivity can be compromised. D01 is designed to overcome this trade-off. It has an approximately 1:1 arm payload-to-weight ratio, a maximum end-effector speed of more than 10.5 m/s, a communication frequency of 1,000 Hz, and repeatability of 0.2 mm. Its spherical wrist joints are built at a 1:1 human scale, bringing high-speed movement and fine manipulation together on a single platform.

D01 is also equipped with electronic skin across its body. For the first time, the robot can directly perceive contact and collisions through its “skin,” much as people do. With a tactile sampling rate of 100 Hz, a force sensing range of 0.1–20 N, and force resolution of 0.2 N, D01 is designed to deliver human-like responsiveness and force control in dynamic situations, such as catching falling objects or responding to unexpected contact. This provides a dependable physical foundation for applications with stringent safety requirements, including industrial collaboration and home services.

W02: a next-generation, fully tactile, ultra-compact and lightweight dexterous hand.

Following its first high-performance dexterous hand, W01, Sharpa has introduced W02, its next-generation fully tactile, ultra-compact, lightweight dexterous hand. Dexterous hands have long faced a difficult trade-off: as degrees of freedom and sensing coverage increase, it becomes harder to reduce their size and weight to a human-hand scale, making integration onto robotforearms more challenging. W02 integrates 21 active degrees of freedom into a more compact, lightweight structure. At approximately 30% smaller than W01, it reduces forearm loading while fitting more readily into workspaces designed around the dimensions of human hands.

For full-hand tactile sensing, W02 combines a proprietary Dynamic Tactile Array (DTA) at the fingertips with electronic skin across the most part of the hand. The fingertips provide a force sensing range of 5 mN to 30 N and 1 mm spatial resolution. The electronic skin provides a force sensing range of 0.1–20 N and 5 mm spatial resolution.

W02 also achieves a zero grasping gap, allowing it to securely grasp small-diameter objects such as chopsticks and fine cords. Combined with IP54 water and dust protection, it is designed for highly varied real-world working environments, from food service to home cleaning. W02 narrows the gap between robotic and human hands in size, flexibility, and sensing, enabling robots to directly use tools, equipment, and workspaces designed for people.

AE01: a high-fidelity haptic exoskeleton data glove.

Once robots have bodies and hands capable of complex actions, efficiently acquiring high-quality manipulation data becomes another critical step in advancing their capabilities. Sharpa has also introduced AE01, a high-fidelity haptic exoskeleton data glove for precise teleoperation and egocentric data capture. Using 22 encoders, AE01 precisely captures the operator’s natural hand movements and maps them to the robot in real time, enabling more natural, responsive, high-fidelity teleoperation.

AE01 also supports 256 levels of continuous dynamic haptic feedback at each fingertip. Operators can sense grasp force and contact conditions, enabling more intuitive and responsive real-time adjustments. With its calibration-free design, AE01 is ready to use as soon as it is worn. It is also designed to resist interference from electromagnetic fields, lighting, humidity, and temperature changes, bringing data collection from the laboratory into real-world environments and providing a more efficient, accessible source of data for embodied AI model training.

Sharpa is moving robots beyond structured environments and isolated actions toward continuous work in the real world. Through a complete product portfolio spanning robot bodies, dexterous hands, and data-capture systems, Sharpa is building new hardware infrastructure for the real world and advancing robotic manipulation toward higher performance, greater task complexity, and broader generality.
