LINXAI robotics robot dog wins inaugural Mount Tai load-bearing race

A heavy-payload quadruped developed by LINXAI robotics won the legged-robot load-bearing race at the inaugural CMG World Robot Mount Tai Climbing Competition on Nov 2.

The robot, fielded by LINXAI robotics’s Lingshi team, started from Hongmen Square and carried supplies up the mountain using fully autonomous navigation, according to the company.

The load-bearing race had four stages designed to mirror real mountain transport scenarios. “The hardest was the second stage. The supplies and carrying basket weighed 70 kg in total, far above the robot’s rated payload of 50 kg. It was the ultimate test of our capabilities,” Peng Shaowu, product director at LINXAI robotics, said.

Peng attributed the win to the company’s in-house technology. He said the robot’s long-leg design allows it to climb two steps at a time, giving it better obstacle-crossing ability than smaller quadruped robots. Its motion-control algorithm was also optimized for Mount Tai’s terrain, particularly for heavy loads with stacked cargo and a higher center of gravity, Peng said.

LINXAI robotics sent two robots to the event, winning third place in the legged-robot speed race and first in the load-bearing race, according to Peng. He said the event also served as a field test that generated real-world data on how the robot performs on Mount Tai’s complex terrain, data valuable for iterating autonomous navigation algorithms and improving chassis performance.
